Atletico Madrid lead the table with two points above Real Madrid who is second, Atletico will play Athletic Bilbao on Sunday.
Barcelona are just three points behind Real but with two games in hand.
Real Madrid struggled to break down Manuel Pellegrini's side, the closest they came to scoring was with a mis-hit cross by Rodrigo that came off the crossbar.
While Thibaut Courtois stopped Guido Rodriguez with Betis's best chance.
Real Madrid received a boost with the return of Eden Hazard from injury.
The Belgium star came in as a 77th-minute sub for his first La Liga appearance since March 13th.
