Antione Griezmann netted a brace as Barcelona beat Villareal to go level on points with Real Madrid in second place.

Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze broke the deadlock with a calm finish before France forward Griezmann equalised seven minutes later with a fantastic finish.

Antoine Griezmann then capitalised on a sloppy back pass by Juan Foyth, to give Barca the lead.

Villareal's Manu Trigueros was shown a straight red card for a dangerous foul on Lionel Messi.

Barcelona are now two points behind Atletico Madrid, who lost away 2-1 to Athletic Bilbao on Sunday evening.

Ronald Koeman's side can go top if they win their game in hand on Thursday.

Barcelona's title hopes are in their hands now with six games to go, but one of their remaining league matches is at home to Atletico on May 8.
