Sheffield vs Manchester United

You can sense the air of urgency for Sheffield United but they won’t like to go up against a team that is famed for away triumphs and as weird as we’ve come to know it, they enjoy doing it from behind.

Call them anything, they have points to prove especially after falling from grace in the UEFA Champions League to mix with the best of the rest in the Europa League and as much as a point in the boring Manchester Derby didn’t placate fans, you have to respect Manchester United.

Sheffield United can’t explain the quagmire around Bramall Lane, a side that threatened to mix with the Big Six last season now swinging hopelessly in the bottom three with reckless abandon, and with Slaven Bilic’s dismissal even after a precious point at the Etihad, Chris Wilder’s position isn’t safe.

Everything at Manchester United starts and ends with Bruno Fernandes, since his acquisition in January, no player has created chances as much as he’s done and without him, Manchester United might not even be in Europe or even belong in the conversation for top six finish;

Sheffield will have to find a way to choke the midfield, stay away of over the top balls and stay disciplined especially in their own half, the last thing they want to do is to hand numerical advantage to the visitors or give Bruno Fernandes a chance from six yards out.

Sheffield don’t create chances, it’s a long standing issue, they have scored the least goals (5) and they have conceded 21 times, you can’t stop Manchester United from licking their lips at the prospect of meeting a porous defense such as this.

It’s important to ask, how did it get this bad for Sheffield after last season’s heroics? They didn’t really lose any top player outside Dean Henderson that returned to his parent club, same club they’re playing in this game week and you might wonder if Ole Gunnar Solksjaer would throw him in.

The last five between the two shows exactly what to expect with the Blades only earning a point in the goal-fest at Bramall Lane in 2019, it ended 3-3 on the day, Chris Wilder will take the result if it goes that way again.

Not many will expect to see Chris Wilder in charge if results don’t change soon, the patience threshold is thin and there are very little margins for errors.

The visitors are expected to return with Anthony Martial upfront and the duo of Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford around him, it would be a long night for Aaron Ramsdale.

Verdict: Manchester United to win
