Time and time over and over, it has been proven that football is more than just a game, it’s a fact and there are proofs.

Nigeria has been under protests and unrests for days following youths’ clamor for the total eradication of an arm of the police force that does nothing but brutalize young people for no just cause.

The Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, FSARS has been under scrutiny, and not for the first time, there had been and are still calls for the government to scrap the unit.

For first timers, FSARS was originally designed to curb the spate of robberies and cybercrimes but the men of the said unit have been going about harassing Nigerians and killing innocent youths; the past four years witnessed different decisions that never changed anything, from reform to disbandment, Nigerians took to the streets to protest and demand total end to the menace.

Football stars across the world have handed their voices to the cause, standing with the Nigerian youths and using their respective social media platforms to demand that the government grant the requests of the people.

Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil, Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham, Antonio Rudiger and Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford are few out of many that showed solidarity on social media with posts in support of the fight against police brutality, just like the world stood against police brutality during the Black Lives Matter movement, it was amazing to see top sports personalities showing support to their fans in Nigeria.

Football has united the world more than most diplomatic missions and the place of the round leather game and its actors cannot be overemphasized, all of us at Footballnus.com stands with Nigerians in this fight against police brutality #EndSARSNow
