The champions are finding it very hard to impose themselves on the league this time, after five game rounds last season, there was a clear daylight between them and Leicester in second.

The win away at Ajax on Wednesday was a welcome development for Jurgen Klopp’s side, it wasn’t pretty but it was highly needed to restore confidence and show them exactly how to win again.

In the league, they have gone two games without a win, including a sensational 7-2 reverse at Aston Villa, leaving many wondering if they have what it takes to defend their title.

Sheffield United are in the same class with Liverpool, even worse if you look at it from the angle of their strong showing of last season, they are without a win and going to the home of a wounded Liverpool means they may have to wait again for a result.

Not for lack of efforts really, the Blades have tried and tried but results won’t just go their way, but are they in danger of going down?

Liverpool will line up to destroy every resilience of Chris Wilder’s side.

The sight everyone is waiting to see is that of Liverpool’s former striker, Brewster leading the line for Sheffield, wouldn’t it be interesting if he gets a goal to mark the game?

Sheffield need all the goals they can get, they have scored just two goals in five games, a sharp contrast to their solid start last season.

Thiago Alcantara and Fabinho will be the ones to sort things out for Liverpool as it stands.

It’s taking way too long for Trent Alexander Arnold to replicate his form of last season, he’s fast becoming a liability to fantasy premier league managers and he has a chance to make things right now.

Virgil Van Dijk is a long term absentee, Joe Matip is a doubt having missed the trip to Ajax in midweek but Fabinho can partner anyone in defense to help Klopp to shore things up.

Sheffield didn’t find joy against Liverpool last season, they will look to bury their fears and take Liverpool on.

Sitting deep will only encourage Mo Salah and co to have a go at them.

But questions should also be asked of Roberto Firminho, his return of 2 goals in 19 games leaves too much to be desired,

But if Klopp is happy, the likes of Diogo Jota will have to wait for their chances.

Betting prediction: Liverpool straight win
