France 2-1 Australia: Paul Pogba wins it for Les Bleus (Official Match Highlights)

We saw the best of technology and some drama in France 2-1 win over Australia.

France looked disorganized, the midfield trio of Kante, Tolisso, and Pogba found it hard to connect to the attacking trio. Some credit to the Aussies as they matched the French in some physical battles early on, the match ended 0-0 in the first half.

The match referee had to check VAR to confirm a foul on Griezmann before he gave the penalty that resulted in the first goal, Greizmann converted the penalty calmly as he gave Les Bleus the lead in the 58th minute.

Four minutes later, Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti committed a silly foul to commit a penalty, Australia captain Jedinak calmly scored from the spot.

The  match was heading for a 1-1 draw until Giroud played a one-touch pass into the path of Pogba for the Manchester United man to toe poke it into the crossbar then into the net, players and fans were unsure if the ball had gone in but the goal line technology alerted the Uruguayan referee that the ball crossed the line. Les Bleus were back in front with just 10minutes to play in the match, they saw out the match as the Aussies looked jaded.

France were delighted to pick up all three points in their Russia 2018 World Cup opener, while the Socceroos looked disappointed to lose the match despite their efforts.
