Arsenal undid Leicester City to move into Champions League spot (Match Report)

Alexis Sanchez celebrates after scoring for Arsenal vs Leicester

Leicester City went into their seventh game of the season against Arsenal as the only unbeaten team in the EPL and were looking like continuing their rich run of form when Jamie Vardy fired past Petr Cech in the Arsenal goal inside the opening quarter of an hour but a sleek Theo Walcott finish off the inside of the right upright offered Arsenal a timely response.

Although Jamie Vardy struck the upright before and after his goal, it was all Arsenal for more moments than Leicester could bear and they eventually succumbed pressure when Alexis Sanchez tapped in after some fine movement from Theo Walcott. It was Sanchez' first goal of the season, Arsenal, who had earlier been forced to introduce Mikel Arteta after an early injury to Mathew Flamini settled into the game and never looked like giving it away.

Mesut Ozil was having a terrific afternoon and not long after the restart, the German intelligence officer found Alexis Sanchez again with a pass of outrageous quality for the Chilean's second of the game, Alexis wasn't done, with nine minutes remaining, the Arsenal forward struck again to complete his hat-trick.

Jamie Vardy curled home a beauty but it was a mere consolation as Olivier Giroud found the back of the net with seconds remaining. Arsenal moved to fourth, and with UCL game coming up in midweek, it was a perfect way to find confidence ahead of a difficult fixture pile up.
