Chelsea target John Stones has handed in a transfer request at Everton
Everton defender John Stones has handed in a transfer request in bid to force through move away from Everton amid heavy interest from Chelsea, according to Sky Sports.
The Premier League champions have reportedly made three offers for the England Under-21 international but have seen their bids of £20m, £26m, and £30m turned down by the Merseyside club.
It is understood that the 21-year-old defender is keen to link up with Blues boss Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge this season, and the latest news suggests that the defender is desperate to force through a move before the end of the transfer window on September 1st.
Everton have made it clear throughout the summer that one of their most coveted assets will not be leaving Goodison Park this summer, and so far the Merseyside club have stood firm on their stance that John stones is not for sale. However recent sources indicate that a bid of £40million should convince the Blues to part with their star defender.
Chelsea fans will hope the signing of John Stones will help steady the clubs unusually poor defense as the Blues have so far conceded 5 goals in their opening 3 games this season,. There there have also been growing rumours that captain John Terry’s position has become under threat in the sides starting eleven due to his poor start to the campaign.
The 34-year-old’s bad start to the season was compounded when he was shown a red card as Chelsea picked up their first 3 points of the season, as an inspired debut performance from Pedro helped the Blues to a 3-2 victory over West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns on Sunday.
