Di Maria on his way to PSG as Van Gaal confirms winger missed his Man Utd flight
The former Real Madrid midfielder is on the verge of joining French champions PSG as Louis Van Gaal told the press that he failed to board a plane headed for United's camp in San Jose.
The Argentine was due to meet the Manchester United squad in San Jose after a delayed summer break due to his participation in the Copa America with his national side.
But Van Gaal admitted in a press conference following Saturday's 3-1 win over Barcelona in Santa Clara that Di Maria had failed to board the plane and had provided no reason for his absence.
“I have heard he (Di Maria) was not on the plane. Marcos Rojo also did not get on the plane. He had a passport issue but with Di Maria I don’t know why.”
While Rojo was said to have missed his flight due to passport problems, Di Maria's no-show could speed up his likely departure to PSG.
