Bacary Sagna: 'I left Arsenal because they could not win trophies'

After much speculations and accusations by Arsenal fans, Bacary Sagna has declared that he left the London club due to lack of title ambitions.

The French defender joined Manchester City during the summer on a 3-year deal.

Despite making just 3 Premier League appearances so far, and spending most of his time warming the bench, Sagna sounds content with the move:

‘At Arsenal we lost our way every season in March or April.

“We would lose our grip on titles with the squad decimated by injuries. What was missing was trophies.”

“Talks dragged on for a year and a half. Arsenal fans said I went to City for the money. But my contract was unchanged for six years.”
