When Florentino Perez said he would bid for a top player next week, and the bid would be the biggest in Real Madrid's history, clubs and pundits have been busy in the media, wondering who the mystery player is.

Real Madrid has pressed the reset button, and it's an important one. With the upcoming general elections, the Spanish giants are aware of the importance of making the right decisions. They haven't won the La Liga in back-to-back seasons, and no silverware to celebrate either.

Florentino Perez is the leading candidate to return for another term; his main opponent, Enrique Riquelme, has been involved in the Manchester City situation recently, with the Premier League club considering legal action over the 37-year-old energy tycoon's claim of an agreement with Erling Haaland.

With Dani Carvajal gone, Real Madrid already announced the arrival of Dutchman Denzel Dumfries from Inter Milan, and a deal for Ibrahima Konate was also announced as the replacement for David Alaba.

Perez was bullish in his press conference on Thursday, where he announced that Real Madrid will bid for a world-class player in the mould of Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka when they joined the club in the past. He confirmed the bid will be worth up to €150m.

Many players were thrown at him as suggestions, while refusing to mention the actual player, Perez; however confirmed that the player will not be from the Premier League, which rules out the likes of Declan Rice, Haaland, William Saliba, and Bruno Fernandes.

Perez also dismissed suggestions of Harry Kane and Michael Olise, but he maintained that the player will be one of the best in the world. Is Perez about to hit PSG with a monstrous bid for Kvicha Kvaratskhelia?

To compound the mystery, Perez refused to rule out an attacker as the identity of the player, citing the fact that Real Madrid always want more upfront. He said the player is "young and a galactico".
