Manchester City ascended to the summit of the Premier League after a rather tepid performance against Burnley. It wasn't the best showing from the new league leaders, but it was enough to topple Arsenal.

The Gunners had held the leadership position on the Premier League log since September; the recent slump, especially the loss at the Etihad last weekend, swung the advantage in City's direction.

This will go down to the wire.

Rodri is out injured, so Pep Guardiola opted for Nico O'Riley in midfield alongside Bernardo Silva.

Burnley had good chances to trouble Manchester City, but profligacy in front of goal explains why the Clarets are going to be dining in the second tier next season.

It's been a long season for Scott Parker and Burnley.

Injuries and a lack of real quality in the squad led them on a difficult road from the start of the season.

It's laudable that they didn't succumb as early as the first half of the season, unlike the six newly promoted sides in the two seasons before; however, the handwriting on the wall was always relegation.

Wolves got relegated at the weekend.

It was long coming for a side that didn't win a single game in their first 19 league games.

Three managers later, they're now back to the Championship after almost ten years in the top flight.

For the title conversation, we're in for a treat.

Arsenal fans are having a meltdown; this is going to rank as the mother of all bottling if Manchester City close this out.

It's still within Arsenal's grasp. It's a matter of goals now.

Elsewhere, Chelsea parted ways with Liam Rosenior after their latest defeat at Brighton.

The former Hull City and Strasbourg manager was in charge of Chelsea's most horrific run of the modern era, five straight losses without scoring a goal.

Steve McFarlane will be in charge of the team until the end of the season.

The goal is to see if the club can finish in Champions League places.

They can get help from Aston Villa or Forest; that's if either of those two finishes as Europa League winners.
