Five points off the pace after Arsenal and Chelsea played out a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, you have a sense of urgency from Manchester City from here on; they will not miss this opportunity.

It’s a sensational opportunity for them to go two points within the league leaders after this game. They don’t care about what happens in the game between Arsenal and Brentford; all the Cityzens should care about, and rightly so, is what they do in their own games.

You look at Manchester City, and you see lots of weaknesses. Their 3-2 success over the Lilywhites over the weekend was one that came with fear, as the game was locked at 2-2 at some points. Can Fulham take advantage of these City frailties?

Speaking of Fulham, Marco Silva was under pressure just recently, but back-to-back wins, including the huge one at the weekend over a hapless Tottenham side, have handed the Portuguese manager a lease of life. Can he take it one further by beating or taking points off Manchester City?

Despite this being a home game for Fulham, the pressure isn’t completely on the Lilywhites; in size and other factors you want to consider, Manchester City is the bigger one here, so you’ll expect the pressure to be on the latter also, with a title race out there to fight for.

While the Citizens are hoping to go within two points of the log leaders, Fulham are hoping to add to the six-point cushion they have on the relegation zone. This makes this a totally different affair, one of two teams with different but equally important ambitions.

How will they line up for this one? Gigi Donnarumma is one yellow card away from suspension; the former champions haven’t been as assured with James Trafford as they are when it’s the Italian that is in goal. With almost everyone fit for City, bar Rodri, you expect a full-strength show from Pep Guardiola.

Harry Wilson picked up a slight knock in the win over Spurs, but Marco Silva expects the Welshman to be ready for the visit of Manchester City, but the only confirmed absentees for this one are Brazilian striker Rodrigo Muniz and Antonee Robinson.

Erling Haaland blanked again for the third straight game; his backers in FPL must be on the edge of their seats. However, he’s not expected to go four games without a goal contribution. Can Fulham defend with their lives to stop the robot from hurting them?

Verdict: Straight win for City.
