Arsenal continued from where they stopped at the weekend with a sensational 3-1 win over high-flying Bayern Munich at the Emirates on Wednesday night.

The whole of Europe anticipated the encounter between the top two teams on the log, and, after Chelsea beat Barcelona 3-0 on Tuesday, many wondered what Arsenal had up their sleeves in response, considering they play the Blues by the weekend.

Jurien Timber headed Arsenal in front in the 22nd minute, but kid sensation Lennart Karl levelled for the visitors just ten minutes after, with Myles Lewis Skelly caught napping. The goal settled Bayern Munich back into the game as the half ended all square.

Arsenal resumed the second half with purpose, driving hard and asking questions of their visitors. It eventually paid off for the Gunners as substitute Ricardo Calafiori sent one into the Bayern box for another substitute, Noni Madueke, to tap home.

It was the former Chelsea man's first goal in Arsenal colours, and from there on, Arsenal didn't look back; Gabriel Martinelli raced home to score the third into an open Bayern goal. The win took Arsenal to the top of the Champions League log, as Bayern slipped to third.

PSG beat Tottenham 5-3, an eight-goal thriller at Parc des Princes, with Vitinha scoring a hat trick and Randall Kolo Mouani scoring twice against his old club. PSG climbed to second, three points behind the Gunners, who are now almost certain to finish in the top 8.

Elsewhere on the night, Kylian Mbappe scored four times as Real Madrid beat Olympiacos 4-3 to climb up to fifth on the log, and Atletico Madrid keeps top 8 hopes alive with a 2-1 win over Inter Milan.

It was another night of pain for Liverpool fans as PSV Eindhoven beat the Premier League champions 4-1 at Anfield, heaping more misery on Arne Slot, and you wonder where it has all gone wrong for the team that had a clean sweep last season in the league.
