Managerial Hot seat: Who gets sacked next in the Premier League?

Premier League sackings: Postecoglou out at Forest, Pereira and Nuno at risk as Wolves and West Ham struggle. Is Slot safe despite Liverpool's slump?

Managerial Hot seat: Who gets sacked next in the Premier League?
In the race for the next manager to be sacked in the Premier League, is it the tale of the current and former manager of Wolves? Is Vitor Pereira under fire as much as Nuno Espirito Santo? (Photo credit: Molineux News)

Game week eight in the English Premier League is done and dusted, but it left with a managerial casualty as Ange Postecoglou became the third Premier League manager to be fired this season.

From Nuno Espirito Santo, who was fired at Nottingham Forest, to Graham Potter, whom Nuno replaced at West Ham, and now Postecoglou, whom Evangelos Marinakis saw off over the weekend, we look at the next likely manager to be shown the exit door.

If the result at Anfield had gone the other way, Ruben Amorim would have topped this list; however, a sensational result has earned him another few weeks in charge at Old Trafford, and is Arne Slot now a contender for the next manager to be sacked? No chance.

Beyond being the reigning champions, Liverpool’s dip can be traced to fatigue and imbalance in the squad due to the acquisitions in the summer. Four straight losses for a team as rich as Liverpool should be worrying, but there’s no reason to question the manager’s position just yet.

Step forward, Vitor Pereira. The Wolves manager sits at the base of the Premier League without a win and just two points on the board. For a manager who came in last season to save them from the drop, is he leading them to the drop this season?

What's the problem with Wolves this season? They’ve been unlucky in games, but that will not be a tenable excuse. The irony is that the club’s hierarchy has shown deep faith in the Portuguese manager by handing him a new deal. Can he turn things around?

It might be early days, but if you consider the Marinakis example, then you wouldn’t be surprised to see Nuno walk at West Ham. The Hammers lost again on Monday, with a horrendous performance against Brentford at the London Stadium. Is Nuno the man to help them survive?

Without a doubt, West Ham will fight against relegation this season. They’re in the murky waters already, and by the time back-to-back wins can’t get you out of the relegation zone, it becomes a mental problem which you can’t shrug off easily.

Once again, the Hammers found it really hard to deal with set pieces, and they couldn’t even get out of their own half for the longest period in the game. If they couldn’t beat Brentford at home, who do they want to beat? That brings us to the question, is Nuno’s job safe? Was he the right hire?
