Manchester City has fallen behind already, with Chelsea now ahead of them by four points, and it could get worse if they don’t win against Brighton and either Liverpool or Arsenal win on Sunday.

In the same vein, you look at Brighton, and you wonder how they have dominated twice and not won any of the two games. They were the better side against Fulham on day one, and they managed to lose their lead at the death, and after missing many chances against Everton, they lost 2-0 in the end.

Fabian Hurzelaar is also in no man’s land, with players being sold by the club hierarchy without his knowledge. Facundo Buonanotte and Julio Enciso have both been sold to Chelsea’s BlueCo, with not a lot of players walking through the door.

It’s the opposite for Pep Guardiola. The Spaniard is known to favour a smaller squad, and it seems like he has given up on the duo of Manuel Akanji and Ederson, with the former now attracting AC Milan and the latter still in the sights of Galatasaray.

In the loss to Tottenham, Manchester City had lots of chances to earn them a result, but they couldn’t take any; this must offer Guardiola some hope that it’s not a case of them not creating chances; they just struggled to put them away.

It’s a game of two teams who play expansive football; Hurzelaar is an exciting manager, but he gets carried away too quickly, and he must be wary of his own mistakes when the former champions visit the Amex stadium on Sunday.

City cannot afford to fall behind again this season. They need to stay close to the title contenders, and a tricky game like this one is important for them to hold by the horn. They will get their chances; they must put them away unlike how they did against Spurs.

The international break is upon us; no team wants to go into the break with the weight of a poor result hanging over their heads. Both sides have reasons to go for this one; however, it will not be big news if City wins on Sunday.

Erling Haaland fired a blank against Spurs; he must step up against the Seagulls, while you expect the likes of Danny Welbeck, who missed a series of chances against Everton, and Kaoru Mitoma to step up against Manchester City. This one means a lot to both sides.

Verdict: City to win.
