It’s that time of the season when players make moves and clubs bolster their squads. We take a look at buzzing headlines in the transfer window, which is in its fifth day.

City confirms Jack Grealish is out of the pre-season squad.

Manchester City sources have revealed that club record signing Jack Grealish may have come to the end of his City career, as the club intends to drop the England playmaker from their pre-season squad.

Manchester City is one of the busiest in the transfer window ahead of the Club World Cup, confirming deals for Tijjani Reijnders and Ryan Cherki and lining up more, leaving Grealish with no option but to start seeking a move away. Will his wages stand in his way?

What will Chelsea do with returning loan players?

Raheem Sterling has been sent back to Chelsea by Arsenal, and Ben Chilwell too from Crystal Palace, and you can bet quite a lot more on loan would return to Stamford Bridge imminently. So, what does Chelsea do with all these players?

Sterling may have to accept a pay cut or hope he gets an offer from Saudi Arabia, while the likes of Leslie Ugochukwu and Carney Chukwuemeka will have to seek another loan move, and as Chelsea continues to find more players in the transfer window, another summer of conundrums awaits Enzo Maresca.

How can the “three idiots” avoid embarrassment?

The trio of Sunderland, Leeds United and Burnley have returned to the Premier League, with the former being away the longest, but what is their plan for survival?

In the past two seasons, the three newly promoted sides have returned to the Championship on the first call, leaving us to wonder what the new set will do. They have been quiet in the transfer window; is it business as usual?

Al Hilal unveils Inzaghi.

After the embarrassing anti-climax to the season for Inter Milan, their boss, Simeone Inzaghi, has jumped ship as he joins Saudi club Al Hilal on a mega deal.

The Italian will earn £29.6m a year in the dugout at Al Hilal and could well be managing Cristiano Ronaldo next season, as the Portuguese superstar is mulling over a move to Al Nassr’s rivals as he hopes to feature in the Club World Cup.

Newcastle wants Burnley’s Trafford.

Newcastle United has approached newly promoted Burnley for the services of their goalkeeper James Trafford, with Eddie Howe looking for quality competition for Nick Pope.

Martin Dubravka is expected to leave the club this summer after his services for the Geordies as a backup to Pope, and the England youth team goalkeeper Trafford is the man Howe wants; it is left to be seen if Burnley will let him go.
