Chelsea completed football on Wednesday night as they triumphed over Real Betis in a second-half romp which saw them come from behind to win the Europa Conference League.

Real Betis got out of the blocks early, with former Real Madrid man Isco pulling strings in the middle of the mark and Chelsea struggling to cope with the pace of the game. The Spaniard’s fast start soon paid off as they took a deserved early lead.

Enzo Maresca named a much-changed side with Jorgensen coming in to replace Robert Sanchez in goal and the duo of Levi Colwill and Tosin Adarabioyo sitting on the bench for Benoit Badiashile and Trevor Chalobah. Reece James made way for Malo Gusto, and Nicolas Jackson returned up front.

Moroccan Ez Abde fired home the opener after receiving brilliantly from Isco at the edge of the Chelsea box; it was a Gusto error that led to Betis’ possession, and it wasn’t a surprise to see him yanked off at halftime for club captain Reece James after a subdued first half from the entire Chelsea side.

"We had a good first half where they barely had any chances," Isco said after the match. "We had it close, and we didn't know how to take advantage of the score, something that has penalised us all season. In a European final, mistakes are very punishing.

"In the second half, they ran over us. It's painful." "I think we took refuge in the scoreboard a bit. We sat too deep. They're a team with a lot of quality and a lot of power," said Isco, a five-time Champions League winner with Real Madrid.

Cole Palmer took the law into his own hands as he put the ball on a plate for Enzo Fernandes after the hour mark to kickstart the turnaround. Palmer did it again a few minutes later as he fed Jackson with a clean cross after neat work on the right, and the Senegalese made no mistake from close range.

It even got better for the Blues as two became three with seven minutes left on the clock as substitute Jadon Sancho curled one in off Kiernan Dewsbury Hall’s assist, confirming the night to effectively belong to the London side in Wroclaw.

It got even better in the closing stages with Moises Caicedo firing in the final goal of the night to make it 4-1 to Chelsea. The win makes Chelsea the only club in Europe with the Champions League, the Europa League and the Conference League.
