Liverpool is peeling away at the top of the log with another impressive win at Tottenham last weekend; it was a win that underlined their title credentials.

You don’t score six goals away from home without having some rich respect to come with it; more interestingly, it’s away to a side like Spurs. It’s time to start preparing the red ribbons on the Premier League trophy; Liverpool is ready to lift one again.

Leicester’s new manager bounce juice, ran out last weekend at home to a poor Wolves side; you know you’re in trouble when a side that has lost five on the bounce beats you 3-0 at home. Ruud Van Nistelrooy must be feeling the heat now; welcome to the Premier League.

It’s now back-to-back losses for the new man at the King Power Stadium, conceding seven goals and scoring none in the two games; when you’re on this sort of run, the Liverpool trip is the last one you want to make, but no one is hired to do an effortless job in the Premier League.

The goal for the Foxes is to stabilise things and get the team as far away from the relegation zone as possible, but a loss on Thursday could see them sink into the bottom three, as they only sit two points above the Wolves in the 18th.

Liverpool’s job is simple: keep plugging away, pick up wins, and extend the gap at the top such that when tiredness kicks in and they drop odd points here and there, they would still have enough to stay on top; they can’t afford to lose this advantage.

Federico Chiesa was fit recently, but he seems to be back in the treatment room; he must be gutted, as he looked really sharp in the League Cup win over Southampton. However, Connor Bradley is nearing full fitness, but Ibrahim Konate won’t feature until mid-January.

Jamie Vardy is a doubt for this one; the veteran is carrying a knock and could sit it out. Wilfred Ndidi is nearing a return, but this might come a little too soon, while Mads Hermansen should be available for the trip to the log leaders.

Mohammed Salah keeps breaking all sorts of records; his brace of assists against Spurs sets a new record for the highest goals and assists at this point of the season, and he is now the leading scorer this season, usurping Erling Haaland, who has now forgotten how to score.

Verdict: Liverpool is to win.
