Manchester City hasn’t won a single game in any of their last six, losing five and drawing one, having led 3-0 until the last quarter of the game.

Manchester City doesn't exactly want to travel to Anfield right now, but if they want to show everyone that they're still competitive, they need a solid victory over the league leaders, as it will greatly boost their confidence.

Liverpool is arguably the best team in Europe; the way they dispatched Real Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday showed how far they have come under Arne Slot. Is there any chance that the Cityzens can stop them?

Liverpool has only dropped points twice in fifteen games this season, losing at home to Nottingham Forest and then the stalemate at the Emirates against Arsenal. Beating Manchester City will cement their status as the champions elect.

With Arsenal’s result on Saturday and the likelihood of a Chelsea win in the earlier fixture of the day, the champions could start the game in fifth position, and only a win would guarantee them a return to the second spot.

Under Slot, Liverpool's style has become more effective, without diminishing the greatness of Jurgen Klopp in any way. They now conserve energy, hit opponents, and then retreat; it’s quite huge that they have kept things together; a win here would be immense.

The hosts may suffer a significant loss due to Ibrahima Konaté's injury, but the lively Anfield crowd will undoubtedly support them. How the visitors will cope with that, together with their current form, is left to be seen.

In the stalemate in midweek, Manchester City led 3-0; how it ended 3-3 shocked many, including their manager Pep Guardiola, who said he didn’t think there was a chance they would be in any danger after going three goals up.

Jeremy Doku is back in training and expected to offer something to the champions as they seek help in the final third. Guardiola still has some players out, but he has enough players to dominate the game, with Kevin De Bruyne set to finally start after a few cameo appearances.

Liverpool is the clear favorite to win this game, but it won’t be straightforward. The champions might be in a bad place, but you can’t rule them out. They have struggled at Anfield even in their prime, but this one is a game they cannot afford to lose.

Verdict: Liverpool is to win.
