The weekend is upon us in the English Premier League; the boys are back from the penultimate international break of the year, and that’s not entirely positive news as we expect another break in November. Here are some key fixtures to look forward to this weekend.

London derby at Tottenham’s home ground

Tottenham Hotspur will host West Ham in the opening game on the return of Premier League action after the grueling international break, and the good news for the home team is that Heung Min Son and Richarlison are available.

Spurs must win this game; watching a two-goal lead disappear the other day was embarrassing, and with Julien Lopetegui under pressure, this is a game to watch out for as a neutral.

Ipswich must earn their first win against Everton.

Everton won their first three points of the season just before the break, giving them some respite after a tough start, but can Kieran McKenna enjoy the same reprieve with the Toffees coming to town on Saturday?

Ipswich is yet to win a game this season, but they have recorded some strong performances, especially at home, where they held Aston Villa to a 2-2 draw. Liam Delap continues to be a significant asset, and we expect him to excel once more on Saturday.

Can Thomas Frank pitch himself to Ten Hag’s job?

Thomas Frank of Brentford was one of the shortlisted candidates to replace Erik Ten Hag at Old Trafford, and with a game against Manchester United approaching, this could be a crucial opportunity for the Brentford player.

Ten Hag could also seize the chance to dismiss the absurd list of his replacements by convincingly defeating Brentford. However, he must bear in mind that the Bees are known for their early aggression, and United cannot afford to be careless from the start of the match.

Is it the final chance for Russell Martins against Leicester?

Russell Martins' continued employment at Southampton is surprising; his team is struggling, and this isn't even due to their most recent loss to Arsenal at the Emirates.

Leicester City won their first game last time around, and they would look to build on that against a team with the worst record in the league. However, if there's one game you look at and feel some energy to go for, it's this one, and should Stoke lose, no one would feel sorry for Martins.

Is this the first genuine trial for Maresca and Arne Slot?

Arne Slot was quoted saying his team hasn’t faced any real test this season despite beating Manchester United 3-0 at Old Trafford. Is this the test he needs to be sure of where his team stands?

Chelsea, on the other hand, has played against Manchester City, losing 2-0 and stringing good wins together across all competitions; is this the game that defines their quality? This is arguably the Premier League game of the weekend, and we will be present, no matter what!
