Teams are scrambling to find the best deals before the European transfer window closes on September 1st; we take a look at the news making the rounds across top clubs.

Chelsea and United discuss the Sancho-Sterling swap.

Despite talks of a truce between Erik Ten Hag and England winger Jadon Sancho, Manchester United continues to find ways to ship the latter out of the club, and another player in a similar situation at Chelsea could be the solution.

Chelsea has made it clear that Raheem Sterling is not in Enzo Maresca’s plans, and, with United needing experience on the wings, they’re currently negotiating with Chelsea for Sterling, with Sancho set to go the other way. Does this remind you of the Alexis Sanchez-Henrikh Mhikytaryan story?

Darwin Nunez to Arsenal?

Liverpool has opened discussion with Juventus for Italian winger Federico Chiesa, and this means there will be a need for the Kops to ship out someone in their forward line; that person is Darwin Nunez.

Arsenal has given Eddie Nketiah permission to undergo a medical at Crystal Palace, allowing them to make room for a new attacker, Nunez, who is clearly not part of Arne Slot's plans.

Joao Cancelo rejoins Al Hilal.

Manchester City defender Joao Cancelo has joined Saudi Professional League side Al Hilal for a fee of €25 million, and he’s set to earn a €15 million salary annually.

Following Barcelona’s financial crisis, Cancelo had to look elsewhere, having fallen out of favour with manager Pep Guardiola. The Cityzens are not done with chopping and shoving yet, and an attacker is expected to join before the window closes.

Scott McTominay agrees to a move to Napoli

Former Italian champions SS Napoli and Manchester United have agreed to a move for Scott McTominay, who will sign a five-year contract for a fee of €30 million.

Scott is expected to travel to Naples on Wednesday to complete his medical before being announced. Romelu Lukaku is also expected to complete his medical at Napoli, bringing an end to a long-standing transfer saga.

Wojceic Szczesny retires from football

Former Arsenal goalkeeper Wojceic Szczesny has announced his retirement from the beautiful game at the age of 34.

Szczesny left Arsenal in 2015 to join Juventus, where he won loads of trophies after succeeding veteran goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon. There were discussions about Szczesny joining Arsenal as a free agent, but the move was halted due to wage negotiations, and he was not impressed with the Saudi project. Good luck, Szczesny.
