Premier League football returns to the King Power Stadium on Monday night, with Steve Cooper leading the Foes out under the lights against Tottenham Hotspur. It’s a dream for the fans and surviving players from the team that was relegated just a little over a year ago.

Over the weekend, Tottenham witnessed victories from Liverpool, Arsenal, and the two Manchester clubs, including their direct rivals Aston Villa, who secured a solid win away at West Ham.

Richarlison and Yves Bissouma, two Brazilian forwards suspended after a video of him inhaling laughing gas surfaced online last week, will be absent from Ange Postecoglou's squad, which is largely unchanged from last season.

The target for both clubs differs; the Foxes will dream of a repeat of their 2016 glory, but surviving the drop will be their major focus on their swift return, while a top-four finish will be the standard for Postecoglou in the Tottenham hierarchy.

Both sides have enough motivation to make this an entertaining one; the other newly promoted sides both suffered defeats, with Liverpool beating Ipswich at Portman Road and Southampton failing to get anything from St. James’s Park despite playing against 10 men.

Leicester City will aim to give a different vibe from what we saw last season, where all three newly promoted sides went down. A good start can help, but they will know it’s a long race that will still have twists and turns.

How will they line up? Big Ange is likely to choose his usual players up front, with Heung Min Son leading the line alongside Brennan Johnson and Dejan Kulusevski. The midfield is where things could get interesting for Spurs, and Pape Matar Sarr is the only one guaranteed a starting shirt in that department.

For the Foxes, they sold their star boy Kiernan Dewsbury Hall to Chelsea for good money, but now they must find new gems to fall in love with. Wilfred Ndidi is still with them; he could be of good help with his experience in the middle of the park.

We expect Ghana winger Abdul Fatawu and new signing Bobby Decordova-Reid to flank veteran striker Jamie Vardy, but how much energy does he have left? That is where Steph Mavdidi comes in; he could even lead the line if Cooper gets brave.

It’s a game Cooper needs to prove a point after being fired last season by Nottingham Forest. The Foxes need confidence, and they will have to earn their stripes. Tottenham lies in wait for what would be the final game of the first game week; it should be fun at the King Power Stadium.

Verdict: Tottenham to win
