Champions League: Arsenal draw Bayern, City to face Madrid

The UEFA Champions League draw for the quarter-finals and semi-finals were held on Friday at the home of football in France and, we’re up for some juicy fixtures.

Reigning champions Manchester City will be away to record champions Real Madrid, both top favorites to win the tournament will faceoff in what could well be regarded as the fixture of the quarter-finals, with the second leg set to take place at the Etihad.

Premier League leaders Arsenal will take on Bayern Munich for a chance to make their first semi-final since the 2009 season where they were dumped out by Manchester United. The German champions will host the second leg at the Allianz Arena.

Atletico Madrid will have a chance to fight for their rights to be in the semifinals as they take on 2013 finalists Borussia Dortmund. The latter beat PSV on Wednesday night while the Spanish side came from behind to dump last year’s finalists Inter Milan.

PSG and Barcelona will complete the quarter final draws. Both clubs have a rich history with the Spanish giants overcoming a 4-0 deficit to win 6-1 on aggregate. Bad blood of officiating complains trailed the game and they will face off in this season’s last eight.

The first legs of these quarter final fixtures would take place on the 9th and 10th of April, while the return legs would be played a week later. Each team at this stage would fancy their chances as it's anybody's game from this level onwards.

The winner of the game between Real Madrid and Manchester City will take on the winner of the game between Arsenal and Bayern Munich in the semifinals while the winners of the other two games will face off for a place in the final.
