Away from the shocks and interesting developments at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations, the January transfer window is hitting the home stretch, and we bring you five top deals that are rocking the headlines.

Kalvin Phillips joins West Ham.

In a swift development, Manchester City has loaned England midfielder Kalvin Phillips to West Ham United until the end of the season. The transfer has been confirmed to include an option to buy in June if all goes well. Phillips will join an already impressive midfield for coach David Moyes as they try to push for a European-place finish in the league and the ongoing Europa League campaign.

Chris Houghton fired by Ghana.

The Ghana FA has announced that the head coach of the Ghana national team, Chris Houghton, has been fired following an embarrassing showing at the AFCON. Ghana lost a two-goal lead against Mozambique to end the game 2-2 and ultimately lost their qualification ticket for the round of 16.

Emmanuel Denis returns to Watford.

Championship side Watford has confirmed they have re-signed Nigerian striker Emmanuel Dennis from Turkish side Istanbul Basaksehir. The former Nottingham Forest forward left the Hornets after their relegation from the Premier League but has now completed his medical on his return to Vicarage Road.

Leander Dendoncker joins Napoli.

Journeyman Leander Dendoncker has joined Italian champions SS Napoli on loan until the end of the season, with an option to make the deal permanent for €9 million. The former Wolves midfielder joins from Aston Villa after finding a first-team role under Unai Emery hard to come by.

Alonso lands Borja Iglesias from Betis.

Following the injury to Victor Boniface, Bayer Leverkusen has signed Real Betis striker Borja Iglesias on loan until the end of the season with a buy option for a fee of €8 million. Iglesias has shone brightly for Betis and has been identified as the man to help Leverkusen land their first Bundesliga title in decades.
