Europa League Draws: Brighton in group of death, Liverpool to cruise

Europa League and Europa Conference League group stage draws revealed: Brighton faces tough group, Liverpool in favorable draw.

Brighton and Hove Albion have been drawn into what can be called the Europa League group of death alongside Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam, Olympique Marseille, and Greek side AEK Athens.

The Premier League side has had a great start to the season, scoring nine in three games and sitting fifth, having topped the log at the end of matchday 2 with a top performance against Wolves at the Molineux, where it ended 4-1 to Brighton.

Ajax is undergoing some level of reconstruction after seeing top players leave during the current window, but their pedigree remains solid, and they would trouble anyone. Olympique Marseille missed out on Champions League football by a whisker and would be a tough opponent for the Seagulls.

Liverpool is in a relatively easy group after being drawn in Group E with Union St. Gilloise of Belgium, Austrian side LASK, and Toulouse of France. Liverpool’s first Europa League journey in almost a decade should be an easy ride on paper.

Europa Conference League winners West Ham will negotiate Group A alongside Olympiakos of Greece, Freiburg of Germany, and a debutant, Topola of Serbia. The Hammers will be expected to be a strong force when the tournament starts on September 21st.
