Mac Allister joins Liverpool from Brighton

Liverpool sign Alexis Mac Allister as first summer signing, aiming to strengthen midfield after missing out on Champions League.

Liverpool has kicked off their squad rebuild with the acquisition of Brighton’s World Cup-winning midfielder Alexis Mac Allister for an undisclosed fee.

Mac Allister helped Brighton to an unprecedented Europa League finish.

And he becomes Liverpool’s first signing of the summer to help fix the struggling midfield that saw Liverpool miss out on Champions League football for the first time since Jurgen Klopp joined the club.

"It feels amazing. It's a dream come true; it's amazing to be here, and I can't wait to get started," Mac Allister told Liverpool’s website on Thursday.

"I wanted to be in [from] the first day of preseason, so it's good that everything is done. I'm looking forward to meeting my teammates.

"It was a fantastic year for me—the World Cup, what we achieved with Brighton—but now it's time to think about Liverpool and try to be a better player and a better human being every day."

The summer window is expected to be a busy one for the Kops as they continue to rebuild the squad, but all interest in BVB’s Jude Bellingham has been laid to rest. 

Liverpool retains strong interests in Wolves’ midfielder Mattheus Nunes and Monchengladbach’s Manu Kone.
