Man United seal £60m deal for Chelsea's Mason Mount

Man United clinch a £60m deal with Chelsea for Mason Mount. The England international will join United on a contract until 2028

Manchester United sealed the deal for Chelsea's Mason Mount for £55m plus £5m in difficult add-ons, following a previously rejected £55m bid.

Mason Mount is set to undergo a medical, finalise personal terms, and ink a contract until 2028, with the option to extend for a further year.

Previously, United threatened to cap their offer at £50m plus £5m and explore other options when faced with Chelsea's counter-offer of £58m plus £7m in add-ons.

However, the recent discussions seem to have reached a favourable conclusion for all parties involved.

With one year remaining in his Stamford Bridge contract, the 24-year-old England international and Chelsea academy product seemed ready for change after contract negotiations slowed.

Mason Mount has an impressive record, with 195 appearances and 33 goals since his first-team debut in 2017.

Mount spent two seasons (2017–2019) on loan at Vitesse Arnhem and Derby County before becoming a regular under Frank Lampard at Chelsea.

His performance in the 2022–23 season was hampered by a pelvic injury, causing him to miss the final-day draw against Newcastle United.

I’ve been critical of Mount previously, especially out of possession, but you have to trust ten Hag. Mount’s a younger more mobile version of Eriksen (in some ways). Thought the Dane looked out of sorts after he returned from injury. Still think #MUFC need more physicality too.
