The 2023 FA Cup final will be another classic between Manchester City and Manchester United after the Red Devils saw off Brighton on penalties on Sunday at the Amex.

Manchester City stormed past Sheffield United 3-0 on Saturday, with Riyad Mahrez completing his hattrick, the first FA Cup semifinal hattrick since 1958.

And it’s looking like Manchester City could do an unprecedented treble of the league title, the Champions League, and the FA Cup.

Manchester United weathered the Brighton storm with a defensive solidity.

Erik Ten Hag had Luke Shaw in centre-back to partner Victor Lindelof in the absence of the injured Martinez, Varane, and the suspended Maguire.

It’s amazing for the Red Devils to keep hopes alive to finish in the top four despite losing out in Europa against Sevilla.

And also maintain a chance to win another trophy to add to the Carabao Cup success, all in Erik Ten Hag’s first season, which says a lot.

In the race for the top four, Tottenham’s heavy loss at Newcastle already means United only need two wins to completely steer clear of Spurs, and the Red Devils have two games in hand.

Newcastle is proving to be the real deal, but United should be fine.

Liverpool isn’t far off; the Kops can win their outstanding game and leapfrog Villa and Spurs into fifth.

But Brighton has three games in hand and could be as high as fifth if they win just two of those three games. Interesting times, right?

The title race is another topic entirely.

Arsenal has lost the advantage at the top despite having a five-point lead.

Manchester City have two games in hand, and they also have to play Arsenal in midweek. Who is expecting any magic from the Gunners at this stage?

Manchester City for the Premier League title? City to beat Madrid and advance to the final, where they would play any of the San Siro brothers?

Manchester City to win the FA Cup? It seems to be written in the stars, and this might just be that Pep Guardiola triple season.
