Following an altercation with teammate Leroy Sane after Bayern Munich’s Champions League defeat to Manchester City on Tuesday night, the club has announced that Senegalese forward Sadio Mane has been suspended.
The former Liverpool man will not be part of the squad when the club plays Hoffenheim this weekend in a German Bundesliga encounter.
Sane and Mane were pictured arguing on the pitch towards the end of the club’s heaviest UCL loss in six years.
Bayern has released an official statement to confirm the suspension of Sadio Mane, and it reads: "Sadio Mane, 31, will not be in the FC Bayern squad for the home game against 1899 Hoffenheim next Saturday.
The reason is misconduct by Mane after FC Bayern's Champions League game at Manchester City. In addition, Mane will receive a fine."
Multiple news outlets report that the Senegalese forward hit the German international on the lip and other team members had to rush the former Manchester City man out of the locker room to calm things down, but Mane seems to be the one on the wrong end.
