Rashford and Sancho save Manchester United against Leeds

A thrilling match at Old Trafford saw Manchester United come back from two goals down to secure a point against Leeds United.

The home team found themselves trailing early in the game, but goals from Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho helped them secure a draw.

The result moves Leeds a point clear of the relegation zone and sets up an exciting rematch in four days' time.

Early deficit for Manchester United

Leeds United took the lead early on in the match, with Wilfried Gnonto burying his shot in the bottom corner after a failure to track his run.

Leeds doubled their lead after the break when Raphael Varane turned Crysencio Summerville's cutback into his own net.

The managerless Leeds team, led by former England futsal head coach Michael Skubala, put in a superb performance and seemed to be in control of the game.

Rashford and Sancho save the day

However, Manchester United fought back, and Marcus Rashford halved the deficit when he headed home Diogo Dalot's cross.

Jadon Sancho then scored his first Premier League goal since September, driving the ball home after Luke Shaw's initial shot was blocked.

Despite the best efforts of both teams, the match ended in a draw, with the focus now on Leeds' sporting director Victor Orta as he returns from a trip to Madrid to find a new manager.

The aftermath

Leeds' supporters sang a "you let your country down" song about Rashford and Sancho, referencing the Euro 2020 penalty shootout loss to Italy.

Rashford has now scored 20 goals in all competitions, while Sancho's form has improved after overcoming physical and mental issues.

The former Borussia Dortmund winger's return to form is a welcome boost for Manchester United, who are without the creativity of Christian Eriksen, the unpredictability of Antony, and the game management skills of Casemiro.
