League football is back and we’re back at it at the predictions table. It’s amazing how the World Cup ended just last weekend and league football is already underway, fun for the fans but how do these players feel?

Brentford sit tenth on the league table and they’ll hope the second half of the season speaks even better things than the first. The goal is to finish inside the top ten, talks of potential European football might be a little over the line considering the quality ahead of them but impossibility is nothing.

Tottenham had a good first half, fourth place and big room for improvement considering the fact their North London rivals sit on top of the log; eight points off the top is a lot in the premier league but they can start the drive up from here.

Thomas Frank knows exactly how to cause upsets and keep a straight face like nothing happened; just before the break, the Bees beat Manchester City at the Etihad and the entire league is yet to recover from that incident.

Tottenham will be wary of such drama on their return to domestic football, they have a World Cup winner in their ranks in the person of Christian Romero, he can bring the energy into the team and hand them some trophy mentality.

How will they line up? The availability of Ivan Toney isn’t certain after he was dragged into some betting related crimes which he must answer; Mbeumo had a good World Cup with Cameroon despite crashing out of the World Cup in the group stage.

Spurs continue to sweat on the fitness of Richarlison who starred for Brazil in Qatar; Dejan Kulusevski is fit and available and Harry Kane can put the World Cup penalty miss behind him by continuing his Boxing Day scoring streak.

The game will be the first since the World Cup break, quite unusual but no one is complaining. It’s Brentford up against Tottenham, let the games begin.

Verdict: Both teams to score
