Manchester United returned to winning ways in the league after coming from behind to beat Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday.
The Red Devils lost to their neighbors Manchester City last weekend and needed a win to ensure they don’t slip further down the ladder and from the team sheet, it was clear that Ten Hag had a plan and Casemiro finally started a league game.
Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford led the line with Christian Eriksen leading the creative force alongside Bruno Fernandes. Everton set up like they have always done and the game looked delicately poised to be a cracker.
Everton drew the first blood off a brilliant strike from Alex Iwobi with just five minutes on the clock and it was looking like another odd day in the office for United but new signing Anthony rose to be counted not long after to tuck an equalizer in.
Anthony became the first ever Manchester United player to score in his opening three league games at the club. Everton went close afterwards with efforts from Anthony Gordon and Demarai Gray but it was another milestone goal from a certain showman that settled it.
Cristiano Ronaldo fired one in at the near post off a fine pass from Casemiro, it was a goal that was made in Real Madrid and again, it was Ronaldo’s 700th league goal, what a player, what an athlete, what a model he is for the emerging ones.
United held on to win and moved up the ladder into fifth, nine points off the top and with a game in hand, Next up for United is the visit of Newcastle to Old Trafford and it will be a real test. Everton travel to Tottenham next as they hope to return to winning ways and the game will be played without Gordon who was booked for the fifth time against United.
