Chelsea are set to announce Brighton head coach, Graham Potter as Thomas Tuchel’s replacement just a day after parting ways with the German tactician.
Potter has impressed with Brighton so far in the current campaign, leaving them in fourth after their latest win, an emphatic 5-2 win over Leicester City on Sunday. The Seagulls hierarchy gave Chelsea the permission to speak with their coach and the deal is now at advanced stage.
Potter is a different option to the marquee managers Chelsea have had in the past; the club has come out to say they want a long-term manager, not a short term and the Brighton man is seen as the answer to that question.
The Blues struck a deal with Brighton, following their prompt decision to trigger his release clause that was believed to be £18m; Zinedine Zidane and Mauricio Pochettino were also touted but the Seagulls manager is the favored candidate
Tuchel was said to have fallen out of love with the management after he declined Cristiano Ronaldo as signing option and dressing room unrest culminated into bad results but his numbers in total doesn’t suggest bad regime.
