It might be too early to get worried but the form of Chelsea must be giving Thomas Tuchel and everyone at Stamford Bridge something to worry about after another failed outing away from home to Southampton at the St. Mary’s Stadium.

Chelsea were without Reece James who picked up an injury but welcomed back Senegalese defender Kalidou Koulibaly who served a one-match ban in Chelsea’s win against Leicester City last weekend on home ground.

Southampton needed a response after their home loss to Manchester United last weekend; Raheem Sterling got the visitors to a flying start but it didn’t take long before new signing Lavia fired home a cracker off a corner kick from the left.

Chelsea’s defense left lots to be desired as they failed to pick out the midfielder before he lashed one past Edouard Mendy. One became two just before halftime. Perraud found Adam Armstrong in the Chelsea area and the Irish man found the top corner.

Chelsea huffed and puffed in the second half but it was Mendy that had more to do with Southampton breaking away to test him. Che Adams was denied late on but the Saints held on for a precious win that took them above Chelsea on the log.
