Former Arsenal striker Pierre Emerick Aubameyang and his wife were assaulted and robbed in their Barcelona home on Sunday, Footballnus.com can confirm.
The Barcelona striker, alongside his wife were tied and assaulted by a group reported to be made of four armed men but the player confirmed in the early hours of Monday to the Barcelona Met Police that none of the victims was injured in the incident.
The thieves broke into Aubameyang's home just outside of Barcelona in Castelldefels, where he lives with his partner and two children, in the early hours of Monday morning. The apartment is just 200meters away from that of former Barca stars Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.
The Gabonese had just returned from a Barcelona game against Real Valladolid which ended 4-0 in favor of the Catalan giants, a game in which Aubameyang was an unused substitute. The incident is being investigated by the local security authorities.
Aubameyang is a subject of a move away from Barcelona with Chelsea opening talks for a potential transfer after Robert Lewandowski arrived from Bayern Munich; the window closes in three days and we’ll see if the striker will ply his trade elsewhere or stay to fight for his place.
