We continue the analysis of teams in the premier league ahead of league resumption next weekend. As it stands, Westham as a club isn’t ready to compete; from all indications, it doesn’t look like Declan Rice will leave the club and that is not for lack of willing takers but for the outrageous value on his head.

Not sure anyone can come up with £150m quoted by the Hammers for the player and he has been named the permanent captain of the club, he seems settled and that’s the end of that. We’re hearing a £10m bid has been placed on Kostic while they have agreed fee with Sassuolo’s Gianlucca Scamacca.

There’s absolutely nothing of note happening at Everton and Frank Lampard must be worried as it stands right now. James Tarkowski joined for free from Burnley and that’s all, for a team that labored hard to escape relegation last season, this is a bit weird.

Everton sold Richarlison to Tottenham and haven’t replaced him, Donny Van De Beek has returned to Manchester United and you wonder if all of Everton’s hopes are on Anthony Gordon and Jordan Pickford… Lampard needs help.

Leeds United reinforced in some quarters and would hope they don’t have to fight relegation again and Jesse Marsh knows exactly how hard it was last season but can they cope without the players that they sold in the current window?

You can put their struggles of last season down to Patrick Bamford’s injuries, but without Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips, what are the chances that they won’t struggle again? Jack Harrison is also under transfer speculations; will he stay or leave?

Step forward, Brighton and Hove Albion. Graham Potter is doing a great job with the club but as it stands, are they ready for the new season? Do they have what it takes to continue the good works in the premier league without strong additions?

Brighton sold Yves Bissouma to Spurs and also in talks with Salernitana for the potential sale of their front man Neal Maupay, can they survive the league without these two? Potter must have something up his sleeves for the new season…

…To be continued
