After 13 games in which Watford lost ten times, the Vicarage Road club has fired Claudio Ranieri, citing poor results and again, wrong trajectory.
Watford had fired Xisco earlier in the season citing same “wrong trajectory” as their reason with the Spaniard guiding them to promotion from the English Championship, his successor has now been relieved of his job for the same reason.
Watford lost on Friday night 3-0 to fellow relegation rival Norwich and that proved to be the final straw that broke Ranieri’s back; it was a result that sank them into the red zone and lifted the Canaries out of it for the first time since the opening weekend.
"The Hornets' Board recognizes Claudio as a man of great integrity and honor, who will always be respected here at Vicarage Road for his efforts in leading the team with dignity," Watford said in a statement.
"However the board feels that, with nearly half of the Premier League campaign remaining, a change in the head coach position now will give a new appointment sufficient time... to achieve the immediate goal of retaining Premier League status."
There are rumors that veteran manager Roy Hodgson is under consideration for the Watford job and if he’s hired, he’ll be the third manager in just one season, the signs are ominous for the Hornets but going forward, they’ll fight for their own lives without the presence of the Tinker Man.
