Lots of interesting things came up in the past few days, it’s important to look at them. From the drama at the UEFA champions league draws, to City’s rampaging 7-0 annihilation of Leeds United and the Covid crisis ravaging the league

Boca Juniors beat Barca to Maradona Cup

You probably forgot we mentioned it sometime ago but there indeed was a friendly that was inaugurated to honor football legend Diego Maradona and the first edition was played on Tuesday in Saudi Arabia.

The match between Maradona’s first love Boca Juniors and another club he made good impact, Barcelona. The game ended 1-1 in regulation time and it went into penalties; Matheus Perreira saw his penalty saved before Guillem Jaime blazed over to hand the Argentine club the maiden edition trophy.

Did UEFA manipulate the first draw?

Lots of irregularities trailed the first draw of the round of 16 pairings of the champions league with Manchester United twice incorrectly picked but the draw has since been redone but controversies won’t go away.

Real Madrid was pitched against PSG, with the latter paired against United at first. The real winners of the draw were Chelsea and Manchester City.

City in the mood, hit seven past Leeds United

On the evidence of what we saw at the Eithad on Tuesday night, sticking to a single approach of all out attack regardless of opposition and score line is foolish, ask Leeds United.

Manchester City are on top of the league and they seem to be at that point where they get to beat all comers without even breaking a sweat, it was at this point last season that they went on a run that landed them the title, should we be worried?

Steven G at Aston Villa… new manager bounce?

Steven Gerrard has played five and won four since joining Aston Villa, the latest being a 2-0 success over Norwich City, is he all that or it’s just a new manager bounce?

Dean Smith was fired by Villa and his first game against his old employers didn’t go according to plan, not for lack of effort early on but his lads went cold and Villa grabbed the second, it doesn’t look good for the Carrow Road outfit and they must get busy in January or face a long walk back to the championship

Is Covid threatening us again?

We don't want the league to go on break, we can't stand another shutout and we're certainly not looking forward to football behind closed doors, but the Omicron variant is rearing heads, we're worried.

Manchester United's game at Brentford has been postponed due to covid outbreak in the United squad, Spurs are on the verge of losing out in Europe's third tier championship due to same, strict measures are being taken across grounds, gods of soccer... do something!
