UEFA on Thursday confirmed the game between Tottenham and Stade Rennes was moved following an emotional news conference by Antonio Conte, stating that up to eight first team players at Spurs tested positive to COVID.

The situation has worsened with at least five backroom staff testing positive as well, this has necessitated the premier league to postpone the game billed for Sunday between Tottenham and Brighton and Hove Albion.

Spurs statement reads: "The Premier League Board took the decision to postpone the game following guidance from medical advisers, with the health of players and staff the priority. The fixture will be rescheduled in due course.

"The club requested the match to be rearranged following a significant number of positive COVID-19 cases among players and relevant staff."

The premier league board has directed all 20 clubs in the league to revert back to their strict measures they enforced against the virus last season as the continuation of the league season looks threatened following high numbers coming from different camps.
