Following the embarrassing defeat at Rennes on Sunday, French forward Kylian Mbappe has confirmed he truly had a rift with Brazilian playmaker Neymar Jr.
Mbappe was caught on camera by the touchline when he was replaced as he loudly yelled “this tramp, he never passes to me”, an incident that has led to social media conversations on the state of things between the super stars at the capital club.
Speaking in an interview with L’Equipe, Mbappe confirmed tensions brewed between him and the Brazilian but no hard feelings and all is good, “I want to win and I am sure he wants to win too so it’s all good as long as we’re winning”.
"Yes, yes, I said it. Now these are things which happen all the time in football. It just needs to be something that doesn't linger," he said. "That's why, right after, given how it blew up, I spoke to him about it.
Mbappe also confirmed that he wanted to leave the club in July and he communicated his desires to the club hierarchy but nothing happened, despite interests from Real Madrid to which sources said there were three bids, €160m, €180m and finally €200, PSG refused to negotiate with them.
Mbappe was left disappointed and he will now see out his contract at Parc de Princes as the arrival of reigning Ballon D’Or winner Lionel Messi didn’t change anything.
