Manchester United vs Leeds United

It’s United’s first game of the season, this particular fixture delivered 8 goals last season, end to end but it was Manchester United that was finding the net with ease, six times Illan Meslier had to pick the ball from his net, we’re here again, Manchester United vs Leeds United in the Old Trafford sunshine.

All eyes will be on Ole Gunnar Solksjaer as he delivers his first team sheet, Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane are the names most people will want to see on the team sheet but there are clear indications that the latter will not be ready due to quarantine issues but Sancho should feature.

Junior Firpo joined Leeds earlier in the window and will be available, Kalvin Phillips was the star of the summer for England during the Euros, not sure if he’ll have his gas refilled yet but he will certainly have a big season for Leeds United.

The first game of a league season is typically unpredictable, United lost 3-1 to Crystal Palace on their season opener last term while Leeds United treated us to a 4-3 classic at Anfield; there’s going to be lots of goals in this one but the lineup by both managers will be key to the result.

United will have the fans back and that will be huge, the midfield isn’t sorted yet and there could still be a new body to come in, potentially Saul Niguez from Atletico Madrid but for this fixture, more of what we saw last season will easily return.

There’s a decision to be made on Edison Cavani and Mason Greenwood but kids will certainly get their chance to impress at some points.

Spurs want Patrick Bamford, should Harry Kane move to the Etihad, the Leeds striker will be a subject of transfer from Leeds and that’s something that will worry Marcelo Bielsa; Leeds will run miles throughout the game and that will interest us.

Verdict: Both teams to score
