Welcome to our first match week of the spanking new season, hits and misses here and there last season, a sensational ride that climaxed at the blue half of Manchester where the Cityzens went home with the title, although it didn’t take long for them to put their city rivals completely out of sight…

The new season is here and it’s time for us to pick up our lenses, time to project into the future and tell whatever we see, based on numbers from the past, momentum of the present and expectations from the future, game 1 is between Arsenal and a premier league debutant, where would this tilt to?

Brentford vs Arsenal

Friday, 13th August

8:00pm

Welcome to the first game of the season and as we’ve come to understand it, Arsenal is opening the season with a game against the new boys from the championship.

The game at the Brentford Community stadium is the Bees first ever premier league game, buzzing with excitement having gained promotion through the famous English playoffs and now facing the daunting task of making sure they don’t follow the Fulham and Westbrom story.

Straight to business, Brentford will be pumped for this one, if you haven’t seen them play before, know this and know peace: Brentford is Leeds United 2.0 and they will give Arsenal a good run for their weak pockets for the entirety of the game.

Ivan Toney was the leading scorer in the championship last season, he will be a good FPL pick and Arsenal’s defense will do well to prepare for him, pacy, athletic and strong; Mbeuno is another player that will run the flanks of Arsenal down and should Chambers be the man on the right… Good luck Arsenal.

Arsenal will be without their two experienced forwards, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang and Alexander Lacazette have been ruled out due to illness and that means a certain Folarin Balogun is in line for a league start, the boy is about to become a man.

Emile Smith-Rowe will have a big season, the number 10 jersey was given to him as soon as he asked, he wants to go hard, he’s been obliged, is there any stopping him? Bukayo Saka is back after an extended holiday following the Euros and while he wouldn’t have started before, the present situation might prove otherwise.

The only competitive fixture of recent between these two ended 3-1 in favor of Arsenal, the situation with the Gunners with respect to transfers is quite depressing but Mikel Arteta has told fans to be excited, however waiting in the wings for Martin Odegaard will only set the club back.

Verdict: Arsenal to win or draw. Over 7.5 corners and Brentford to earn more bookings
