Chelsea reaffirmed their Premier League title ambitions with an easy win over Crystal Palace's Patrick Vieira.

Trevoh Chalobah, an academy graduate, scored their third goal from 25 yards on his Premier League debut in front of a raucous, nearly-full Stamford Bridge.

Blues manager Thomas Tuchel expressed surprise before the game that his team, who are the European champions and Uefa Super Cup holders, were regarded as one of the favourites to win the title.

They were, however, brilliant in their league opener, which was Vieira's first game as a manager in England which ended in a poor performance by Palace.

Marcos Alonso gave Chelsea the lead with a free kick from about 22 yards.

Chalobah, who joined Chelsea's youth team 14 years ago, sealed the victory with a long-range drive.

After the break, Palace improved marginally, but Jordan Ayew's header was their only shot on target.
