Scotland midfielder Billy Gilmour tests positive for COVID-19 and could be the end of the road for him at Euro 2020 as he must isolate for 10 days

Billy Gilmour will miss Scotland's important Euro 2020 match against Croatia on Tuesday after he tested positive for covid-19.

The Chelsea midfielder gave a man of the match performance in Scotland's 0-0 draw against England on Friday in his first start for Steve Clark's men.

Scottish FA official statement

The Scottish FA can confirm that a member of the Scotland National Team playing squad, Billy Gilmour, has tested positive for COVID-19.

Having liaised with Public Health England since the positive test was recorded, Billy will now self-isolate for 10 days and therefore miss tomorrow’s UEFA EURO 2020 Group D match against Croatia at Hampden.

According to the Scottish FA, the remaining 25 players are fully fit to battle Croatia.

Scotland need to win their last group match at Hampden to stand any chance of reaching the last 16.

And if they reach the last 16, Gilmour will not be available for selection as he would still be in isolation. Such a shame.

Meanwhile, England's players and support team all tested negative on Sunday to allay fears that anyone could have contacted it from Billy Gilmour during the England vs Scotland game at Wembley.
