Paris Saint-Germain is close to signing Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma on a free transfer for a five-year contract for roughly 12 million Euros
According to Sky in Italy, Paris Saint-Germain is close to signing Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma on a free transfer.
The highly coveted 22-year-old's contract with AC Milan expires at the end of the month, and he will be available to join a new club as a free agent.
The Serie A club had been in discussion with Donnarumma's agent, Mino Raiola, for several months but had been unable to reach an agreement on a contract extension.
PSG are said to have offered Donnarumma a five-year contract for roughly 12 million Euros (£10.3 million) a year with add-ons and are expected to win the battle to acquire the goalkeeper if Barcelona do not match or better their offer.
Donnarumma is currently on international duty with Italy and may undergo a medical at the national team's Coverciano training facility before their Euro 2020 opener against Turkey on Friday in Rome.
AC Milan have already made a move to replace Donnarumma, signing France international Mike Maignan from Ligue 1 champions Lille for roughly £12.9 million (€15 million).
Since joining the club as a teenager in 2015, Donnarumma has made 251 appearances for the club in all competitions, maintaining 88 clean sheets.
PSG are now close to sign Gianluigi Donnarumma. The agreement is ‘imminent’ - PSG working to complete the deal soon, already planning for medicals in Italy NT camp. 🇫🇷 #PSG @DiMarzio @SkySport— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) June 7, 2021
