Jose Mourinho has launched a new dig at anyone who cares to listen that he won “half trophy” at Tottenham Hotspur following his sacking before the Carabao Cup final which was eventually won by Manchester City.
The week leading up to the Wembley final saw Mourinho fired by Spurs following a run of poor results and elimination from the Europa League.
In a chat with “The Late Late Show” host James Corden, the showman himself jokingly said he won something at Spurs, hinting he could have won the final if he was given the chance.
Mourinho casually dropped into conversation that he managed to add to his career trophy haul during his 17-month tenure at Spurs, despite not winning anything.
Mourinho revealed to Corden that he has won "25-and-a-half" trophies as a manager while talking about Manchester United, another of his former clubs.
"What is the half?" asked Corden, momentarily confused, to which Mourinho replied: "The half is the final I didn't play with Tottenham."
In Mourinho’s count, he’s won more than 25, the 25th was while he was in charge of Manchester United but the Portuguese maintain that leading Spurs to the final handed him a half trophy which he’s going to add to his rich trophy haul.
Mourinho launched a subtle dig at his old employers when Corden asked if he was upset not to be kept on until after the final: "Of course. To have a chance to win a trophy with a club that doesn't have many, that was a dream."
