Timo Werner and other Chelsea players who were away on international duty were involved in Chelsea training as Thomas Tuchel prepares his team for West Brom in the Premier League and Porto in the Champions League.

Werner continues his struggles in front of goal after drawing a blank in the 3 World Cup qualifying matches for Germany.

The 25-year-old striker missed an open goal chance against North Macedonia that got the football world talking about his poor form.

But Thomas Tuchel has come out to defend the Chelsea forward amid all the criticism.

Speaking during Chelsea vs West Brom pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon, Thomas Tuchel said:

"Yesterday I sent him in from training because he wanted to do some finishing with us and I just sent him in... I said You don't need that, your body, your brain knows how to score, you did it since you were six years old, so don't worry it will come. If a woman does not want to go out with you to dinner, you cannot force her, you just step a little bit back and maybe she will call you up. So the goals will come."

The Chelsea manager also confirmed that Timo Werner will start the match against West Brom on Saturday.

Thomas Tuchel also confirmed that Ngolo Kante was the player who did not train on Friday and he is most likely going to miss the Champions League quarter-final match against Porto, but everyone else is available for selection this weekend.

Tuchel was also asked about the prospects of signing Erling Haaland and Sergio Aguero but he refused to comment.

"I will not answer that out of respect for the player and Borussia Dortmund,’ said Tuchel on Haaland."

"There is big news around him and his agent. It seems like they are creating a race for the player and I will fully accept this a player for Borussia Dortmund, a promising player of course.

"He isn't our player and is not in our squad. So, we will not comment on anything else regarding Haaland.

"You can ask about Aguero too but it's the same answer as Haaland. We have full respect for Manchester City and for Sergio Aguero, who is a big player for them. There are no words needed for me about the achievements of this guy, he is a world-class player.

"But we have three competitions in which we are in with Manchester City so I will not speak about their player."
