Burnley vs Manchester United
Turf Moor
9:15pm

Manchester United could go top of the premier league with just a point against the Clarets at Turf Moor on Tuesday night, something Ole Gunnar Solksjaer is trying too hard to be humble about.

Considering the difficult start to the season, Manchester United deserve all the plaudits for finding themselves in such a strong position but they will be grateful for the many stumbles of the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea.

The current premier league season has seen too many teams at the top at one point or the other, Southampton famously went on top of the league after beating Aston Villa 4-3 at Villa Park in November and the Dean Smith’s team was momentarily top at some points too.

Everton led the park for a while and they still believe they’re in the mix, but the crazy nature of the season means Spurs could be on top one weekend and then fifth the next, in fact, four points separate first placed Liverpool from seventh placed Everton, all a matter of goal difference as it stands.

For Burnley, the cup is half full and you can’t blame them for being optimistic.

The Clarets started quite poorly but have managed to claw things back to a point where they now sit five points above Fulham, the 18th placed team, it could even get better considering they have two games in hand but one of those is a fixture against the Red Devils.

The goal for Burnley has changed, from fighting the drop to competing for Europe even though it’s obviously a long shot but they have new owners and cash injections mean they can buy big name stars and looking at Leicester City, who says they can’t challenge?

Burnley crashed out of the FA Cup over the weekend to a lowly rated club but Sean Dyches will look at the positives instead of dwelling on the gloom, they weren’t going to win the cup anyways and it affords them the opportunity of focusing on the league squarely.

There are no new coronavirus cases between the two and Edison Cavani is available after serving ban imposed by the FA for his indiscretions on social media.

Ole Gunnar Solksjaer has almost everyone available and can even hand a start to some of the lads that did the job against Watford in the FA Cup, the Burnley manager would feel the same way too with some players coming back but Burnley must make use of the current window to bolster a thing squad.

United will play through the flanks, Bruno Fernandes is the man to lead the line and should Paul Pogba be available for selection, he will be joined by the red hot Scott McTominay.

Burnley won the last game between these two, almost a year ago at Old Trafford and incidentally, at least either side has scored twice in each of the last four between these two, goals at Old Trafford?

Verdict: United to win
