When the final whistle went off at Old Trafford on Sunday, with Arsenal walking away with their first victory at Old Trafford in over a decade, signs were there that the coming days would throw the manager and the entire team under the spotlight, it got worse on Wednesday night in the UCL.

Manchester United travelled to Turkey to negotiate Istanbul Basaksehir, the odds were in their favor and the home side was expected to struggle against the team in Zebra stripes following two strong UCL results against PSG and RB Leipzig, but it wasn’t to be.

Ridiculous defending saw Demba Ba walk in unhindered through the halfway and the second saw similar disgraceful defending with Ole Gunnar Solksjaer watching on hopelessly as his side gave a horror show that will definitely throw his place in the dugout under harsh scrutiny.

To be honest, Solksjaer is never consistent with tactics, he certainly has to rotate and maybe set up to suit the opponent of the day but what excuses does he have in Turkey to have all his men in the Basaksehir half and had no one to challenge the former Chelsea forward for the opening goal?

Just like a cheating boyfriend that knows the best gift shop in town, Ole Gunnar Solksjaer has been here before, he knows how to deal with the United fans and maybe the board understands something that we all don’t, we’ve seen this before and we most likely can predict the next action.

United play Everton at Goodison Park next, usually when things go south for Manchester United under Ole Gunnar Solksjaer, with home defeat to Arsenal and a bizarre capitulation in Europe, expect a five star United performance against Everton…

That will give birth to a purple patch, a few strong results and then they lose to a relegation threatened side again and when the manager is under investigation again, they rinse and repeat… We’ve seen it play out several times.

Is this what Manchester United really want? Can they ever become real title contenders again under Ole Gunnar Solksjaer and this badly worded script? The answer is no, but is there a real solution in getting rid of the manager too? The answer is no!

The problem stems from the board above Solksjaer, someone was responsible for the failed Jordan Sancho transfer, someone failed to identify a left legged center back that could have fixed the weaknesses at the back, it’s a toxic relationship at the moment and results will continue to frustrate fans unless there’s a major shakeup at the top, there’s no respite from this epileptic run of results
